Into the wilderness

Today instead of sharing something I am processing I decided I would share something I wrote in 2005.

A journey into the soul must mean something. It SHOULD be clearly marked for the one on the quest. While the purpose of it rests solely in the hands of the one on the adventure, that we might have some guidelines to help us would be good. Here is my suggestion.

The first sign post should read:

You've left home to go out into the wilderness, you've left home not just for your end goal but for what lays between hither and yon. Your journey required but one sacrifice, to take the first step of choosing to leave the known in order to begin.

So, here we are, step one has been taken, the hardest part is over. Now you can expect to have everything and nothing to do with what happens next.

You have the ability to now choose what you will do with what you find along the road but you are not in charge of what you will stumble onto.

There will be a handful of things you may choose: your road signs (what you use to help remind you where you are headed), maps (how you define the direction you want to go in), some travel companions and two things you will find for certain on the journey (growth and love). It is up to you to use what you have chosen to take with you and what you will be given along the way.

It is up to you to decide to ask for help should you need it; you may feel at some point that you are alone but you will never be and that you are lost but you just need a bit of light to see the path. It is up to you wether you love or hate, sing or scream, rejoice or ravage, sing praises or ignore the gifts left for you along your chosen path.

The final treasure at the end of your  journey shall forever remain a secret till found and when found may be of no real use to you in this wilderness you have traveled. The point perhaps is in the journey its self.

Everyone is required to follow the rules, one can not cheat because so choosing would mean you would never find the final treasure, in which case the cheating wouldn't count because finding that chest of goal is assured.

You may choose to believe you are engaged in a race and that there is only one chest of gold at the finish line. If you choose to believe this please be advised there is the road which belongs to each person, ignorance of that fact does not negate its existence.

There will be infinite variations of people (your fellow travelers) please conduct yourself with honor, grace and wisdom. Should you find you can not avoid confrontation remember to argue with yourself first and the other second.

As for time limits, you may take as long as you find you need or would like. You may begin at the beginning as often as needed, and rest when you need to. And feel free to go off the beaten path, which then becomes the road you travel.

Fulfill your soul's curiosity over what is in the golden chest, find your road signs, open your map, engage with everything you find along the way (remember we have left gifts for you), and please ask for help when you need it.
