My purpose in all this writing I have been doing is recognizing I may not be the only one who has, is, or will go through the process of freeing themselves from their pain in order to have the kind of life that they truly desire. The honest truth is this portion of my own process, the writing about it, is difficult at times because it requires a level of vulnerability and baring my own naked heart in the very world that has hurt me. But I need to give purpose to my own walk through and out of the darkness via allowing others to see it so they know there is a way out of the cage pain can put you in. I am willing to do this because I feel that if one word I write can ignite a spark or fan a flame in someone else it is my responsibility to do so. The simple truth is it can take something as small as a genuine and kind smile from a stranger to bring in that bit of relief or light into your situation when you are confused, floundering, afraid, or suffering.
I type these words each day in an effort to let in a little light into my own life and in the hope that it brings in a little light into someone else's. None of us is really adrift and alone, there is always someone else on this big blue planet who on some level can identify with what you are experiencing. There is also someone out there you can come across who can give you that genuine smile and draw you back into possibility. The only thing any of us really has to do in this life is free ourselves from the idea that we should show up as anything but authentic. By being who you are, speaking your truth, flashing that needed smile, expressing your own imperfection, struggle and opening up to those smiles being flashed at you in the day, you give yourself and everyone you come in contact with a chance for more than any dark thing that has happened to you. I am not the sum of every time someone hurt me, I am the sum of what I learned from it; like that I can get knocked down and stand back up EVERY time even if it knocks the wind out of me and takes me a little while to get there. If you are here reading these words that means this is true for you as well. If it is true than you are stronger than anything that tried to destroy you or diminish that inherent strength within you. All we need to do today is show up honestly, without pretense, suspend disbelief long enough in each moment to allow for the possibility of more than what we have known thus far. The end.
I think because we have seen our own strength to get back up every time that we can do this.
